Another year, another few fair wins

Another year at the Champaign County Fair.
My HOPE piece by Cindy Valentine won a first place and I could not be happier. I didn't follow the directions on this one to a "T", but I'm really happy with it and I guess the judge was to.









In another category I won a blue for Lizzie*Kate's "Life's a Stitch". I've wanted to do this one for ages and finally got it done this year. But who knew it was blue ribbon quality.









Susan's Needle Nook was first class stitching for me. A class piece where I missed the class, I found this one an easy fun piece that worked up quickly, even with the over one stitching. I'll take the red ribbon thanks.










Another piece I finally finished from years ago, Pocketfull of Posies scored me another 2nd place win. All in all a good year and I hope to become a more serious stitcher and get some things done to put in the show again next year.

It's called a WORKROOM for a reason

This is what I currently refer to as my workroom, called that because it needs work. For some reason during Christmas a lot of boxes got stashed in this room to get them out of the way, and they have never moved since. The mini crib has wheels around here somewhere and I HAVE to find them and get it put together before the baby comes perhaps.




This is the closet in the workroom. Not a lot of rhyme or reason there, but it could look worse. I did manage to get both the white wire racks in there to stash things on. I'll get it organized eventually.

Green Eyed Monster with a Pink Blanket

Last time I showed you blankets I made for my new grandson to be, and a pink one for my daughters friend who will have a girl in early August. Well that pink blanket ended up going to Ms. B, a housekeeper at work. Her daughter had a baby girl in mid-June and she so admires my work that I could not resist. When last we spoke her 2 year old grand daughter had laid claim to the new blanket, so I found some yarn a co-worker had given me and worked up another blanket for big sister so the baby could have her blanket back. Live and learn and I won't give anymore gifts without giving a sibling gift which I almost always do, but right now things are so crazy that I just neglected to do it.

Today I put the finishing touch on a blue blanket that will go to a woman who works in cancer registry having her first baby (he will be named Jaxson) the end of August. I don't know her well, but I see her every Friday at our noon meetings and chat a bit.

It's too hot to be doing a lot more crochet, so I think I'll give it a rest and get back to stitching.
